The Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 is a 4K indoor camera with a motorised pan-and-tilt mechanism. This UK version provides remote viewing and configurable monitoring through Xiaomi Home. The body measures 79 × 79 × 119mm.
An 8MP sensor delivers a published 3840 × 2160 resolution through an f/1.6 lens with six optical elements. Automatic HDR processing helps retain detail in bright and darker parts of the scene. The gimbal offers 360° horizontal pan and 109° vertical tilt. A sensitive sensor supports low-light colour, while 940nm infrared illumination has a manufacturer-stated night-viewing distance of ten metres.
Local AI functions include human detection and tracking, crying detection, loud-noise detection and a virtual fence. Pet detection and tracking apply to cats and dogs. Panoramic, timed and fixed-point monitoring options let you select the way the camera surveys the room. Enable the required features in Xiaomi Home and adjust them for the installation.
Connectivity is Wi-Fi 6, IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 2.4GHz/5GHz; Bluetooth 5.4. The camera works with Xiaomi Home 10.2 or later; Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and later. Pair it through the app and choose a position with a reliable network signal; wireless performance depends on the installation and surrounding interference.
Recording options include 8–256GB microSD, Class 10 or higher, FAT32; paid cloud; NAS backup with microSD. Memory cards are purchased separately, and cloud recording requires a paid service where available. Lens shielding can be controlled manually or scheduled, physically hiding the lens for privacy. A built-in MJA1 security chip, local processing and encrypted transfers support the manufacturer’s data-protection approach. Two-way voice calls start from the phone app. Compatible Alexa or Google Assistant equipment can provide supported voice functions where the service is available.
Rated input is 5V DC at 2A, with an operating range of −10°C to 40°C. The package contains the camera, power adapter, two-metre charging cable, mounting template, wall mounting base, two wall plugs, two screws, warranty notice and manual. Upright or inverted placement is supported. Follow the instructions for mounting and adjust image rotation in the app after inverted installation.
