The Microsoft Surface 45W USB-C Wall Charger supplies USB Power Delivery to compatible Surface computers and other USB-C devices. Its compact adapter and detachable USB-C cable suit a desk, travel bag or spare charging setup.
USB-C power delivery
The single USB-C output provides up to 45W using supported USB Power Delivery profiles. Output combinations are 20V at 2.25A, 15V at 3A, 9V at 3A and 5V at 3A. The connected device and charger negotiate a supported power level. Choose a device that accepts USB-C charging and whose power requirements fit the adapter’s output.
Surface compatibility
Microsoft recommends this charger for compatible devices requiring up to 45W. USB-C charging support and required wattage vary between Surface models. Surface Laptop 13-inch can use 45W for normal charging, but its fast-charging recommendation is at least 60W. Devices that require more power may need a higher-rated adapter. Surface devices with only a Surface Connect charging input require the appropriate Surface Connect power supply.
Compact package
The adapter measures 63 × 45 × 28.5 mm and weighs 95g. Its detachable USB-C cable makes the package convenient to carry and allows the cable to be stored separately. A detachable AC plug forms part of the package. The supplied offer includes the charger and USB-C cable. Select a wall connection appropriate to the physical plug supplied with the unit.
Everyday setup
Connect the detachable cable to the charger and to the device’s supported USB-C charging port, then connect the adapter to a suitable wall socket. For consistent charging, use a cable and device that support the required USB Power Delivery profile. This is a wired power adapter with one USB-C output and no wireless charging pad. Check the model-specific power requirement when choosing it as a replacement or secondary charger.
