About Amazfit T-Rex 3
Display and Design
The Amazfit T-Rex 3 features a vibrant 1.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 480×480 resolution and 323 ppi density, delivering sharp visuals for maps, stats, and notifications. With an impressive 2,000 nits peak brightness, it’s readable even under Kenya’s intense equatorial sun, whether hiking Mount Kenya or jogging in Mombasa. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, the display resists scratches from rough adventures. The rugged design includes a 316L stainless steel bezel for premium durability and a lightweight polymer middle frame and back, weighing just 68g total. At 48.5mm, it’s bold yet comfortable with silicone straps in Onyx Black or Lava (with orange accents) that are interchangeable and quick-release. The military-grade certification (passing 15 MIL-STD-810H tests) ensures it handles shocks, humidity, and temperatures from -30°C to 70°C, while 10 ATM water resistance supports swimming, diving up to 100m, or snorkeling in Lake Turkana.
Performance and Software
Running on Zepp OS 4, the T-Rex 3 offers smooth navigation with Bluetooth 5.2 for stable connections and Wi-Fi for quick map downloads. The 26GB internal storage holds offline maps, music files, and apps, with no need for constant phone pairing. Integration with the Zepp app (Android/iOS) syncs data seamlessly, providing detailed analytics and firmware updates. Unique AI features include OpenAI’s GPT-4o for voice queries—like weather checks or route suggestions—and Zepp Coach for personalized training plans based on your fitness level. Alexa built-in allows hands-free control, and Bluetooth calling via the built-in mic and speaker lets you take calls on the go, though without a loudspeaker for media playback.
Health and Fitness Tracking
Equipped with the BioTracker 5.0 PPG sensor, the T-Rex 3 monitors 24/7 heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), stress levels, and sleep stages with high accuracy, offering PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) scores and recovery insights. It tracks over 170 sports modes, from running and cycling to yoga and freediving, with auto-detection for common activities. Advanced metrics include VO2 Max estimation, training load, and readiness scores, while AI-powered strength training provides animated templates and rep counting. For navigation, dual-band GPS with six satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, NavIC) ensures precise tracking, even in dense forests or urban canyons, with route import, turn-by-turn directions, and free global offline maps (OSM, contour, and snow). No ECG function, but the barometer aids in altitude tracking for hikes.
Battery and Connectivity
The 700mAh battery is a standout, lasting up to 27 days in typical use, 14 days heavy, or 42 hours in accurate GPS mode—far outpacing competitors for multi-day expeditions without charging. In long battery GPS mode, it stretches to 114 hours. Magnetic USB-C charging takes about 3 hours for a full top-up. Connectivity is robust with Bluetooth 5.2 for notifications, music control, and calling, plus Wi-Fi for over-the-air updates and map syncing. It pairs effortlessly with the Zepp app for data export to Apple Health, Google Fit, or Strava, and supports quick replies to messages via voice-to-text.
