Mi Router 4A provides dual-band Wi-Fi in a White housing with four external antennas. Its 2.4GHz connection supports up to 300Mbps, while the 5GHz connection supports up to 867Mbps. The AC1200 designation describes this wireless class. The quoted combined 1167Mbps is a theoretical total across both bands, rather than the speed available to one device or an internet connection.
This version has one 10/100Mbps WAN port and two 10/100Mbps LAN ports. A wired upstream connection is therefore limited by its 100Mbps Ethernet interface, even when a wireless device connects at a higher link rate. Check your broadband speed and the equipment you intend to connect before choosing the router. It is the standard Mi Router 4A version with 64MB memory.
The hardware includes an MT7628DA processor and 16MB ROM. Xiaomi tested combined access by up to 64 devices across Wi-Fi and LAN under laboratory conditions. The number of usable connections and their performance depend on network traffic, signal quality and the devices involved. Actual transfer rates also vary with interference, obstacles and the receiving device.
Smart Connect can present the two frequency bands under one Wi-Fi name, helping compatible devices select an appropriate connection. Enable the function through the router’s web management interface. The 2.4GHz band is useful for compatible devices farther away, while 5GHz supports higher wireless link rates at suitable distances. Position the router in an open location with ventilation around the housing.
The Mi Wi-Fi system offers device management, parental controls, access scheduling and unauthorized-access prevention. Web management and supported Android or iOS applications provide configuration options. Wireless security includes WPA-PSK and WPA-PSK2 encryption, access lists and SSID hiding. Available connected functions depend on the installed firmware and application support.
The matte plastic body measures 188 × 100.5 × 175mm. Four omnidirectional antennas serve the two bands, with natural heat dissipation during operation. The specified operating range is 0–40°C and 10–90% relative humidity without condensation. Xiaomi lists a 12V 0.6A power supply and user manual among the supplied accessories.
