Shokz OpenMove Specifications

Deep Dive: The Tech Explained

7th-Gen Bone Conduction & PremiumPitch 2.0

Traditional earbuds push sound waves through the air directly into your eardrums, which physically isolates you from the outside world. The OpenMove entirely bypasses your eardrums by utilizing 7th-generation bone conduction technology. It operates exactly like a perfectly tuned tuning fork, sending tiny, precise vibrations through your cheekbones directly to your inner ear. The integrated PremiumPitch 2.0 technology heavily optimizes these vibrations. Older bone conduction headsets notoriously lacked bass and tickled your face uncomfortably at high volumes. This upgraded software balances the audio perfectly, delivering surprisingly rich, dynamic stereo sound while reducing sound leakage by 50%. You get a vibrant, highly motivational audio experience without annoying the person running next to you.

Open-Ear Safety & 29g Comfort

Running on the side of a busy Nairobi road while wearing noise-canceling earbuds is an incredibly dangerous habit. The OpenMove completely unblocks your ear canal, granting you total situational awareness. It functions exactly like an active acoustic radar, allowing you to hear approaching matatus, aggressive dogs, or friendly cyclists instantly. You can hold a completely natural conversation with your running partner without ever pausing your music.

The physical frame relies on a strong titanium headband paired with polycarbonate ear hooks. Weighing barely 29 grams, the headset grips your head securely without creating painful pressure points inside your sensitive ear canals. It sits perfectly flush against your skin, allowing you to easily wear thick sunglasses or a heavy cycling helmet without any awkward physical interference.

6-Hour Battery & USB-C Convenience

Dealing with a dead battery in the absolute middle of a workout completely ruins your athletic momentum. This headset packs a highly efficient 135mAh lithium-polymer battery that delivers up to 6 hours of continuous music and calls on a single charge. Think of this endurance as a highly reliable support vehicle pacing you through a long morning run. It also holds an impressive 10-day standby time, meaning the headset is always ready to go even if you leave it in your gym bag for a week. More importantly, Shokz engineered the OpenMove with a universal USB-C charging port. You do not have to baby a fragile, proprietary magnetic charging cable. You can rapidly juice up the headset using the exact same cable you use to charge your Android phone or modern laptop.

IP55 Sweat & Splash Resistance

Delicate electronics rarely survive the heavily sweaty conditions of an intense outdoor workout or a dusty commute. The OpenMove is tightly sealed with a strict IP55 protection rating. It is physically built as tough as heavy-duty hiking boots navigating muddy upcountry trails. If you get caught in a sudden, light Nairobi rainstorm while out on a jog, the music will just keep playing flawlessly. You never have to panic, remove the headphones, and hide them in your pockets when the weather turns bad. The USB-C port is protected by a secure rubber flap to completely block moisture and dust from entering the charging circuitry.

Dual Noise-Canceling Mics & Bluetooth 5.1

Taking important phone calls while cycling or running usually means the person on the other end hears nothing but roaring wind and heavy breathing. This headset utilizes dual noise-canceling microphones designed specifically to capture your voice. It operates just like a dedicated sound engineer actively filtering out loud background street noise. This powerful processing guarantees your voice comes through clearly, ensuring stable connections for your phone and video calls.

Who Is This Perfect For?

• The Budget-Conscious Athlete: Wants genuine, high-quality Shokz bone conduction technology for their daily runs but refuses to pay the high premium of the flagship models.
• The Nairobi Urban Commuter: Needs the open-ear design to hear traffic and matatu conductors safely while walking or waiting for transport in the CBD.
• The Multitasking Office Worker: Relies on the multipoint pairing to juggle laptop Zoom calls and mobile phone calls while keeping their ears open to hear colleagues calling their name.
