Product details
The UGREEN AC650 adapter adds wireless networking to a compatible computer through USB. Its external antenna provides a different format from a small internal-antenna dongle, while dual-band operation offers a choice between 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. It is useful for a desktop without built-in Wi-Fi or a computer that needs a separate wireless network connection.
The wireless ratings are up to 433Mbps on the 5GHz band and 200Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. Those figures describe the supported wireless links under suitable conditions; they are not guaranteed internet download speeds. The access point, signal conditions, network traffic and internet service affect the performance available. Select the band that suits the network and location rather than assuming both ratings are delivered together to one connection.
An external antenna rated at 6dBi is part of the design. UGREEN identifies it as a high-gain antenna intended to support signal coverage and reception. Actual coverage depends on the building, router placement and interference, so positioning the computer and antenna still matters. The USB 2.0 connector provides the host connection for the adapter and its wireless networking functions.
The adapter supports Wi-Fi reception and a compatible simulated-access-point mode for sharing a computer connection. Reception is the normal use when joining an existing wireless network; hotspot sharing is a separate software-supported arrangement. Plan the computer’s network configuration for the intended role. UGREEN provides official driver resources for this model rather than requiring a driver from an unrelated download site.
UGREEN lists Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, along with supported Linux kernel versions, among the operating environments. Check the exact system and install the official driver where required. This adapter suits a setup that needs dual-band wireless networking, a visible external antenna and a USB connection. Its defined band speeds and platform support make those compatibility checks easier before it is connected.
