Product details
The UGREEN SATA enclosure turns a compatible 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch internal drive into external USB storage. It houses the drive and provides the connection electronics needed to access it from suitable equipment. The enclosure is supplied as the storage accessory rather than as a preinstalled hard drive, so the installed drive determines the available storage.
The host connection uses USB 3.0, while the internal drive connection is SATA. UGREEN identifies compatible mechanical hard drives and SATA SSDs, giving two common storage options for the enclosure. Check both the physical size and the drive’s interface before installation. The enclosure should not be selected solely because another storage device is described as an SSD; its supported interface is specifically SATA.
UASP and TRIM support are included among the storage features. Their operation depends on the connected computer, operating system and drive. File-transfer performance is also affected by the drive and host connection, so the enclosure’s interface should be considered as one part of the storage path. Use the operating system’s normal storage tools to manage the installed drive and its file system.
A separate power adapter is required for operation. UGREEN explains that the enclosure is designed to obtain its operating power from that supply rather than relying only on the computer’s USB port. The housing encloses the drive and includes ventilation openings. Assemble the drive and power connection according to the product’s instructions before accessing the storage from the host device.
UGREEN also identifies use with a compatible USB-equipped router, with the router manufacturer’s own storage-support requirements determining how it is configured. The enclosure is useful for accessing an existing SATA drive or building an external storage unit for a suitable computer. Confirm the drive interface, physical fit, power supply and host support before use. Keep the chosen drive’s capacity and performance separate from the enclosure’s connection features when planning the storage setup.
