Product details
The UGREEN M.2 NVMe enclosure converts a compatible internal SSD into portable USB storage. It provides a protective housing and a USB connection for an NVMe drive, making it useful for moving files, accessing an existing SSD or building a compact external drive. The enclosure is the connection hardware; storage capacity depends on the SSD installed inside it.
Its USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection supports a maximum link rate of 10Gbps. UASP support is included for compatible computers and operating systems. That link rate describes the USB connection, while actual file-transfer performance also depends on the SSD, host port, cable and workload. A computer with a slower USB connection can limit the speed available from an otherwise capable drive.
The enclosure accepts M.2 NVMe drives with M-Key or compatible B+M-Key connectors. It accommodates the 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 physical sizes, giving several mounting positions for different drive lengths. Check both the drive protocol and its physical format before installation. The similar appearance of an M.2 drive does not by itself confirm that it is an NVMe SSD.
Installation uses a tool-free arrangement with rubber retainers to hold the SSD in position. The aluminium housing provides the main structure, and the silicone protective cover helps cushion contact around the enclosure. UGREEN lists USB-C and USB-A connection cables among the included accessories, allowing the enclosure to be connected to suitable computers with either type of host port.
UGREEN identifies driver-free use with Windows, Linux and macOS. Select the correct cable for the host and a compatible NVMe drive for the enclosure, then use the operating system to manage the storage. This is a useful choice when you need a defined 10Gbps USB interface, support for several M.2 drive lengths and a housing that can be opened and closed without a separate tool.
