The Epson Perfection V39 is a compact flatbed scanner for photographs and everyday documents. Its 4800 dpi optical system, removable lid and USB-powered design suit a desk used for personal archiving and occasional document capture.
Photos and documents
A Contact Image Sensor with RGB LED illumination captures photographs and documents at up to 4800 × 4800 dpi hardware resolution. The flatbed accepts A4 and Letter originals. Colour capture uses 48-bit internal processing with 24-bit output, while grayscale uses 16-bit internal processing with 8-bit output. A colour Letter-size scan at 300 dpi takes approximately 10 seconds through the USB 2.0 interface under Epson’s test conditions.
Handling originals
Place each original on the flatbed glass and use the lid to cover it during the scan. The removable lid accommodates thicker originals such as books and photo albums. The built-in stand allows suitable upright placement and storage where desk space is limited. This model uses individual flatbed scanning and does not include an automatic document feeder or automatic two-sided scanning.
Scanning controls
Four buttons provide access to PDF, Send, Copy and Start workflows. Supported Epson software includes document capture and photo correction features. Easy Photo Fix can restore faded colour in suitable scanned photographs, and software-based text recognition can help turn appropriate document scans into editable text. Available functions depend on the installed software and supported operating system.
Desk setup
The scanner connects through Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and draws power from the computer, avoiding a separate AC adapter. The specified operating consumption is 2.5W.
