The HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw brings print, copy, scan, fax together in an A4 desktop printer. Its colour laser engine is suited to text documents, charts and graphics alongside routine office printing. The multifunction design places the main document tasks in one device and reduces the need for a separate printer and scanner on the desk.
Print performance and paper handling
Print speeds are up to 19 ppm black; up to 4 ppm colour (letter). Maximum print resolution is up to 600 x 600 dpi black and colour. Use suitable paper and the appropriate quality setting for the document being prepared. The standard paper arrangement is 150-sheet input tray; 50-sheet output bin.
Duplex printing uses manual driver support. Turn and reload the paper when prompted to complete the second side. Keep the paper guides aligned and leave the output area clear so completed pages can be collected easily. The recommended monthly print volume is 100 to 500 pages.
Scanning and copying
The scanning system is flatbed and adf; up to 600 x 600 dpi optical (300 dpi for macos). Copying supports up to 18 cpm black; up to 4 cpm colour; up to 600 x 600 dpi; 25 to 400% reduction/enlargement; up to 999 copies. Place individual originals on the glass when working with documents, photographs or small items that need careful positioning.
A 40-sheet automatic document feeder processes a stack of loose originals. The built-in fax connection supports 33.6 kbps transmission and up to 400 pages of fax memory. This combines printed documents, scans and fax handling in the same workspace.
Connections and everyday use
Connectivity includes USB 2.0; Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-Tx; Wi-Fi; Wi-Fi Direct. Use USB for a directly attached computer, or configure wireless printing on the intended Wi-Fi network. Install the HP driver or compatible printing software for the operating system you plan to use. The 2-line LCD provides local status and control.
The printer uses four toner cartridges: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Keep access to the supplies area clear for replenishment, and leave enough room to open the scanner lid. A stable surface with accessible power, paper storage and network coverage makes the device easier to use throughout the working day.
