Product details
The UGREEN USB 3.0 sharing switch lets two computers take turns using the same group of four USB peripherals. It is useful for a desk with a work laptop and a second computer, where a keyboard, mouse, printer or external drive would otherwise need to be unplugged and reconnected. The switch provides a single place to connect those shared devices.
The four peripheral connections support USB 3.0 data transfer at up to 5Gbps. USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices are also supported, allowing older keyboards, mice and other accessories to remain part of the setup. Actual transfer speed depends on the computers, connected devices and cables. A slower peripheral will continue to operate at its own supported speed.
A push button changes which computer controls the attached devices. Selection is manual rather than automatic, and the LED indicators show the active computer. This gives you a visible way to confirm the connection before using a shared peripheral. The switch shares USB devices; it should not be confused with a display switch or a product that adds video connections.
A Micro-USB power input accepts supplementary 5V power for peripherals that need additional power, such as an external hard drive. UGREEN notes that the power adapter and charging cable for this input are not included. Plan that extra power connection when using more demanding devices instead of assuming every peripheral can be powered reliably through the computer connections alone.
UGREEN lists driver-free operation with Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and Linux. For a computer that only has USB-C ports, the manufacturer advises using an OTG-capable USB-C to USB-A adapter with the supplied USB-A connection cable. A generic USB-C data cable is not an equivalent substitute in that arrangement. With the correct connections, the switch keeps a shared desk organised while allowing deliberate, one-button control of the peripherals.
