The Xiaomi Outdoor Camera Base Station is an indoor companion for compatible Xiaomi Outdoor Camera BW300 and BW500 devices. It supports a monitoring system with up to four connected cameras at the same time. The base station links compatible outdoor cameras with indoor storage and network access, providing a central point for viewing and managing supported recordings.
Local storage supports SD cards from 16GB to 256GB. Keeping the recording media indoors provides a different storage location from the outdoor camera itself. The manufacturer describes live viewing through the base station without activating the camera, helping conserve the camera’s energy. Storage behaviour depends on the paired camera, installed card and the selected monitoring settings. Choose supported recording media and follow the instructions for formatting and installation.
The base station requires a continuous power connection and can connect to the network through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Wireless connectivity is specified as IEEE 802.11b/g/n at 2.4GHz. Its wireless relay function supports communication with the compatible cameras. Walls, distance and interference affect signal strength, so positioning the base station and cameras should take the building layout into account. The manufacturer does not publish a fixed distance that applies to every home.
When a supported target event is detected, the base station can sound an alarm. This function works as part of the configured camera system rather than as a separate imaging camera. A built-in MJA1 security chipset uses a unique key and certificate as part of the manufacturer’s communication-protection design. Use the Xiaomi Home app to set up and manage the compatible devices.
The published phone requirements are Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and later. Xiaomi recommends Xiaomi Home version 9.4 or later for this system. Rated input is 5V DC at 2A, and operating temperature is −10°C to 45°C. The package contains the base station, charging cable, Ethernet cable and user manual. Cameras and recording cards are separate items. Follow the supplied setup instructions when connecting power, pairing cameras and selecting the network connection.
